Cocktail Dispense Font
Following the success of a bottled ready-to-drink Mojito product, Diageo wanted to find a way to improve the speed and quality of the in-bar serve. Working with the Technical Innovation function I helped to develop a concept for a fully contained self-contained ‘plug-and-play’ dispense font operating from an under bar bag-in-box.
Having previously created a concept for a single product dispense font during another spirits project I adapted the structure for the new RTD category and worked with external suppliers to define the pump and related components that needed to be housed in the unit. Being used across a range drinks types the font needed communicate the cocktail credentials of the product whilst working with various brands.
After a series of concept iterations, I created a design which used a cleverly engineered plastic panel of varying thickness to achieve an illuminated gradient effect highlighting the signature colour of the cocktail. To enhance the spirit credentials, each font was finished with a crafted 3D logo for the parent brand heroed by glowing halo. Not having 3D versions of a number of brand logos I worked with skilled sculptors to turn the usually flat icons into detailed and crafted pieces. As well as the dispense font I designed all support material for the product including outer packaging, installation guides, bar-side user instructions and project related marketing materials.
Following a successful test of 30 prototype units I manufactured and supplied into Madrid I worked with a Far Eastern manufacturer to produce 4 different variants for supply around mainland Europe.
